But let this not blind you to what virture there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself...
Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity & disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and lonliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees or the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be; and whatever your labors & aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life - keep peace with your soul. With all of its slum, drudgery & broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy.

The part I like the best is:

I've spent months on the mountain-top teaching those limp-ass sages, how to kick lame grasshopper ass. And, they repay me with fucking rice-cakes! All that they do is sit around Buddha style, and they hardly ever have shit to say. Then, when they do, it's so damn spiritually metaphoric, that I have to bitch-slap coherent communications into them. I know that beyond their crybaby Orient shit, they appreciate me through, and the grasshoppers are ecstatic. They're finally learning something... Now THAT's, true-love happiness and caring. <3
Send old Max's spirit to me, and I'll hook his ass up, too... Lickity like.

This is my favorite saying, prose, poem. Hmmm...I'm not really sure what it would be considered. Wonderful words to live by, though. I posted this on my journal about a year or so ago. I have it on a plaque in my bedroom, and I have a book created with it. As you can see, I can't get enough. Thanks for the reminder.
