#471...the pitta that almost didn't pat...

anymore.

..."So this is what it feels like to dodge a bullet," I thought to myself.

Well, they ain't kidding when they say one shouldn't shovel heavy wet "schnow" -

Especially when your left anterior descending coronary artery is 95% clogged.  Yep. that be a killer for sure, that is - if one doesn't listen to the symptoms your heart gives you as courtesy, before hand.

How do I know this?

Well, it seems we were in for a little excitement this past week when the husband with the same cholesterol filled artery decided to do just that - shovel some wet snow.. and then wonder what that damn annoying chest pain and pressure was all about.

(and some husbands just don't seem to listen to nagging wives...but that's another story...)

so off to the emergency room we go - only to be told -"ya ain't goin' home with that thar clogged ticker mister..."  or other scary words to that effect...

and it was a surely a good thing, for the same husband with the clogged artery had to undergo a coronary stent procedure or angioplasty - which saved his sorry little ass just in time. (and I mean that in the most loving way, dear...)

and can I just say one thing - that the docs and nurses at my hospital (Lankenau) are just damn terrific - and we are thankful to have one of the top ten cardiac hospitals right in our own backyard.

As a little mental visual for you - 95% clogged means that blood had to try to get through the diameter of a pierced earring wire - of the ol "widow maker" coronary artery..really, really, not a good thing.

and at 47, although he appeared fit, and is in shape - those damn cholesterol making genes will try to get you every time -

so word out people - get yourselves checked, and take care of your heart in heart healthy ways...

take it from us - dodging bullets is not healthy for your heart or other living things...

I guess that bullet didn't have his name on it after all! Good thing!
Glad to hear he got the necessary procedure and got the peanut butter out of that garden hose! (that is the image I always get, for some reason)

Oh, I am so glad you caught it in time!  My husband has lost two friends to heart attacks who were just turning forty!  It is so scary!

love, Kas

Wow! You guys were so lucky to have caught that in time. God probably didn't want to have to endure YOUR wrath ;)

You story has such an important message.  I think a lot of us in our 40's would have been tempted to ignore those symptoms.  I'm glad you made the right choice to get him to an ER....and that everything is OK!!!

You must tell me - is he OK?

3.0 x 23mm Cypher stent in Mid Lad and 3.5 x 8mm Stainless in Prox Lad. I know the widow maker - how is Bud? How are the children?

Same leakage? Same serious bruising on his thigh?

You must tell me the families thoughts. I worry for him.

This just happened?

(((Flora))) so glad that this got caught in time and that Bud is on the mend.  I'm almost 47!  I think I'd better get my levels checked again soon...

and I caught the comment about "alter-egos"--VERY amusing, my dear!

I'm glad you let the veil down for just a bit and let everyone know what was going on, and the good outcome.  And the snowpeople are awesome!

hugs to the both of you, Albert

Oh my Floralilia ... please let me add a late God Bless!  So ... so ... glad you all went in to check that ol ticker out!  It horrified me to think how close you all had come.  Just a God Breeze you had.  It must have scared you all to pieces.  We're going to say a prayer and draw an image of you immediately nestled beside sweet muffin as you lay together to sleep more peacefully than could be imaginable.  I'm sure yo Bud is a natural treasure to be laying upside your sorry fairy butt!  *silly grin*  Smooches to you and all.  God Bless!
