Happy Father's Day to all those fathers who teach their children the same.
sigh - it seems like the world is going to hell in a handbasket...now congress wants to cut funding on Ernie, Big Bird, Oscar, Arthur, Clifford, Reading Rainbow and other childrens shows..
what....the.....heck?!
Please sign the petition telling Congress to save NPR and PBS and email it on to others in your address book...
http://www.moveon.org/publicbroadcasting/
A House panel has voted to eliminate all public funding for NPR and PBS, starting with "Sesame Street," "Reading Rainbow," and other commercial-free children's shows. If approved, this would be the most severe cut in the history of public broadcasting, threatening to pull the plug on Big Bird, Cookie Monster, and Oscar the Grouch.
The cuts would slash 25% of the federal funding this year—$100 million—and end funding altogether within two years. The loss could kill beloved children's shows like "Clifford the Big Red Dog," "Arthur," and "Postcards from Buster." Rural stations and those serving low-income communities might not survive. Other stations would have to increase corporate sponsorships.
Already, 300,000 people have signed the petition. Can you help us reach 400,000 signatures today?

So a proper Thank you to all who came to the Queen's aid on both sides of the firing line. My Ftp space is hereby and officially restored, albeit a bit light on files. But no matter, in time, I can reload them from my end...
uh, I mean..from my hard drive, um...
oh, you know what I mean...
Even Joe - the journal editor over at magic smoke - came to my rescue - even when I was cranky...
and we all know the journal editors are not fond of Floralilialand...but that's another story...
anyway...a humble thank you again to all - color and light have returned to the once bland land of Floralilia.
The Queen is happy.
amen. alleluia.
a last correspondence -
hi joe - (AOL Journals: Magic Smoke)
thanks for keeping up with this - forgive me for being so cranky...
but it's not nice to ignore a self-proclaimed Queen of Flimflammery now, is it?
but...you can stop holding onto your head now Sir - for the day is filled with good news! Listen to this:
Much to my delight (and utter surprise), a very nice gentleman of the executive team actually called me this afternoon and we had a very nice long chat. He told me my ftp space is now working, unfortunately, my files cannot be recovered - But that at least I can add them back in on my own. (I'm okay with that.)
We discussed a good many things, but the priority being the disturbing trend (at least from the point of view of many of us (we?) veterans here) of increasingly poor customer communications. He was very interested to hear some of the problems that we all have been experiencing from time to time.
As a customer for 11 years now, and one of the very early journalers here - I can tell you that I've lived through a good many changes with aol, and have stuck it out - because I amloyal, and believed in the product, and still think AOL is very user friendly, despite how big the company has gotten. And I think that AOL creating the journals was a very savvy idea indeed, and has been a big influence as to why I continue to stay here.
Please know I realize how hard you all work to make it a good community experience, as well as keeping things on the cutting edge here. And that it must be a great challenge to keep things running smoothly, especially in light of how quickly technology (and how testy) it can be from day to day and some days - minute to minute...
Still and all, Customer Satisfaction should remain the top priority for all of you - happy customers stay....but more importantly - recommend good products to others; therefore, generating even more business....and in the end, bring security to your own job situations.
and...as your Queen, I can put that darn old rusty guillotine away now.
Isn't that nice?
anyway - my heartfelt thank you for first listening; second, for following up with; and third, for intervening where you could. Please continue to strive for improved customer relations where you can. People, you will find, will put up with a lot, if they feel they are at least being heard.
I royally and really appreciate it.
really.
thank you,
Floralilia the not so bland Queen anymore.
i might have been down....
but not out -
packing myself back up....
just a little worse for the wear...
Sound the bells! The Queen is back !
Allelulia - ah said....the Queen is back!
